Activities near Korteta

The market

The Tolosa market has been held every Saturday for centuries, and is one of the best known in the Basque Country. It occupies three open-air stages, which every Saturday transforms the center of the town into a great fair.

Txindokiko Itzala

Txindokiko Itzala is an adventure park located in a privileged place in our geography. At the foot of the emblematic Mount Txindoki, in the town of Abaltzisketa, 40 minutes from our accommodation.

Beigorri Adventure

Just 40 minutes from Korteta you can find this magnificent adventure park in the Navarran town of Lekunberri. It offers an active leisure alternative, testing your skills with 4 circuits of suspension bridges and zip lines between the branches of the trees.

Usabal sports complex

In Tolosa, the Usabal sports complex offers all kinds of sports activities such as: aerobics, maintenance gymnastics, intensive physical preparation, yoga, senior citizens, cycling, swimming, pilates, aquagym, taichi chuan, kempo, karate, saunas, spa, swimming pools, solarium.

Mendukilo Cave

In Astiz, very close to Lekunberri, 40 minutes from Korteta, you have the chance to see these beautiful caves. You will descend to 40 meters to the subsoil, you will observe a natural underground cathedral, stalactites, stalagmites, columns, gours or banners. Throughout 1 hour of guided itinerary and conditioned for the whole family, the treasures of the underground world await you.

Trekking

To get to know our nature and rich cultural heritage, there is nothing better than taking a mountain tour, a non-competitive sport available to everyone. Both Tolosa and Tolosaldea have routes with different levels of difficulty. From Korteta we recommend the Uzturre path. It is suitable for all levels and is very well signposted!

WHAT IS CELEBRATED?

Parties & Events

San Juan

The festivities of San Juan are the main festivities in Tolosa and are celebrated on June 24. Following the ancient traditions, the San Juan festivities have maintained the Bordon-dantza and the jump over the fire, and have reinforced and updated the display of weapons (guns).

Tolosa Carnival

The name of Tolosa has crossed all kinds of borders for its carnival, which has endured in the face of all kinds of prohibitions and whose origins date back a couple of centuries. For six days the entire town is paralyzed and uses its imagination and daring to dress up and live it in the street with great noise and joy.

Titirijai, international puppet festival

Annual appointment of the autumn of Tolosa, 9 days in which puppets, boys and girls, adults and professionals and puppet lovers invade the streets of Tolosa. Full of activities for everyone to enjoy.

Choral Contest

This annual international choral competition has taken place in Tolosa since 1969, and always around November 1st. Its intention is to bring together the best choirs in the world, in order to make possible the exchange of styles, interpretation, choral literature, vocal education and modes of each country and, likewise, to publicize the musical and cultural tradition of the Basque Country.
